MeetMe() standard solution for conferences, needs dahdi driver to mix audio. On OpenVZ-based vservers no kernel modules can be loaded in virtual machine, so this won’t work

Think you can also check app_konference: http://sourceforge.net/projects/appkonference/
It’s a branch from old app_conference and last time I checked it out was working great with asterisk 1.6 Not to mention that the code is much more cleaner now.
With some minimal C knowledge you can modify it to support same parameters as MeetMe if you need a replacement to use with apps like ViciDial.
